How do I apply eyeshadow?

Applying eyeshadow can be done in many different ways. You can create a light, subtle daytime look or a sultry evening look. From subtle to dramatic. Whatever look you go for, the basics are the same. But, how do you best apply eyeshadow?

The most important step is the first step: use an eyeshadow primer! Your eyeshadow will blend more easily, will not crease and the colors will come out much nicer!

Apply eyeshadow step by step

For a beautiful, simple eyeshadow look you only need three shades! Take a light color (similar to your skin tone), a medium shade and one color that is nicely dark.

First, apply the lightest shade of eyeshadow under your eyebrows and in the inner corner of your eye. It is best to use a small eyeshadow brush for this.

Then take the darkest shade of eyeshadow. You apply this in your crease. Your crease is the "arch" above your moving eyelid and below your brow bone. Apply the darkest color with a blending brush, so that you don't get hard lines. Do you think the eyeshadow is a bit too dark, or are you a bit overdone? Take then again a little lighter eyeshadow to correct.

Then apply the medium eyeshadow color to your moving eyelid. There is no eyeshadow here yet. For this color you use an eyeshadow brush.

You can choose to further complete your look by applying a thin line of eyeshadow along the lower lash line.
