Brow Gel
A brow gel does in one movement what other brow products need two or three steps for. You brush the hairs up, you set them there, and with a tinted gel you add a bit of colour at the same time. What does a brow gel actually do?
A brow gel has a small brush much like a mascara wand. You run it through your brows and the gel lays the hairs in the direction you want. Then it dries and the shape stays put, in the sun or at the gym. A clear gel also locks in your eyebrow powder or pencil. A tinted gel adds colour while keeping the individual hairs visible, which looks more natural than a fully filled in brow.
Clear brow gel or tinted eyebrow gel?
The difference mostly depends on what you already have.
- Clear brow gel is for you if your brows are full enough and you only want to keep them in shape. Also ideal as a last step over a powder.
- Tinted brow gel is for you if you want a bit more density without anything heavy. The colour sits on the hairs, not on your skin.
Brow glue for laminated brows
After those brushed up, laminated brows? Then you need a brow glue rather than a regular gel. A brow glue is thicker and dries harder, so the hairs stay standing. How do you apply brow gel?
- Start at the inner corner and brush the hairs straight up.
- Work towards the tail and lay the hairs out at an angle.
- Use very little product. Too much gel gets sticky and leaves white bits.
- Let it dry for half a minute before you put anything on top.

Combining brow gel with a pencil, powder or pen
Brow gel works best as the final step. Fill any gaps first with an eyebrow pencil or draw in hairs with a brow pen, then go over the top with the gel. If you want no colour at all but still want hold, have a look at brow soap as well.
