What is the difference between a toner and a tonic?
- 1 min reading time

A toner and a tonic, aren't they the same? Or not? They are often confused, but they are certainly not the same. In this blog post, we would like to explain the difference between a toner and a tonic.
What is a toner?
You use a toner after cleansing your skin. A toner does not cleanse your skin but does remove the last traces of your cleanser. This prepares your skin for the next step in your skincare routine. You can see a toner as a kind of prime layer with a watery texture. A toner ensures a healthy moisture balance because of the antioxidants. Make sure you choose a toner that suits your skin type for the best result.
How often should you use a toner?
For best results, use a toner twice a day after cleansing your face. You can apply a toner with your fingers or even better with a cotton pad. Make sure the toner is well absorbed before applying the next step in your skincare routine.
What is a tonic?
A tonic is used after cleansing your face and ensures that your skin is degreased. After using a tonic, your skin will feel extra fresh and clean. Any remaining makeup residue is removed and clogged pores are reduced. A tonic is especially useful if you suffer from oily skin. Your skin is actually only completely clean if you have used a cleanser and then a tonic.
How do you use a tonic?
You apply the tonic to your face with your hands or with a cotton pad, spread over your entire face and neck. You do not need to rinse the tonic with water! The result is a fresh and clean skin.
