Wedding Makeup: Do's and Don'ts

Everyone wants to look their best on their big day, but what are Wedding Makeup Do's and Don'ts?

Do

Natural make up, on your special day you want to look as beautiful and radiant as possible. By using natural shades you emphasize your own natural beauty. Think of natural browns or soft purples.

Don't

Black smokey eyes, red lips or really bright colors, these kinds of looks can look too fierce and not look natural. Also avoid trying out a totally new look on your wedding day, but do this before your wedding. This way you know for sure that it is a look that you want to see in your wedding photos for the rest of your life.

Do

Look at the colors of your bouquet and clothing and adjust your makeup accordingly. Do you have peachy shades in your bouquet? Take, for example, a peach-colored lipstick or blush. Do you prefer pink or purple shades? Then let this come back in your eyeshadow , blush or lip color .

Don't

Green shades in any form! Green emphasizes redness. As a bride, you often don't sleep very well the night before your wedding, resulting in red eyes. Rather choose, for example, a yellow corrector and purple shades in your eyeshadow.

Do

Have your nails done a few days to a week before your wedding, so your cuticles can recover and your nails look optimally beautiful in the photos of your rings!

Don't

Epilation , solarium or extensive sunbathing on the beach within 24 hours before your wedding. This is related to the recovery of your skin. Burnt skin is very difficult to make up evenly, because foundation does not adhere well to the skin. Therefore, pay extra attention to applying SPF in the weeks before your wedding.

Do

Secure your makeup well with powder . And during the day with powder again, so your makeup stays beautiful and your photos look perfect too!

Don't

baking. Baking may look very nice in a photo, but in real life it is not very natural to wear such a thick layer of powder on your face. And on this day you go for a beautiful, natural makeup look.

Do

Waterproof mascara and eyeliner, because let's face it, you will most likely shed a tear (or two). Whether it's during the ceremony or during a skit of your family at the party that makes you laugh so hard, with waterproof you are definitely in the right place! Also try the mascara well in advance, so that you are sure that you like it and it does what you want from your mascara at your wedding.

Don't

Normal mascara and eyeliner duh, see above ;)

Do

On the eve of your wedding, gently exfoliate your lips with a toothbrush and then apply a good lip balm . Hello soft lips!

Don't

Wearing a lipstick that gives off a lot, your partner to be also wants to look beautiful in the picture, without smearing lipstick.. If you have a color that you absolutely want to wear, but that is not so transfer-proof, we have a golden tip! Apply your lipstick and apply setting powder over it, blot with a tissue and apply another coat. This way your lipstick stays beautiful for longer and it also gives off less quickly.

Do

Bronzer , with this you give your skin a beautiful sunkissed glow and that fits perfectly with bridal makeup.

Don't

Using foundation that is too pale, foundation that is too pale in combination with a white or cream colored dress is not a success. This can make you look very gray. Is your foundation perhaps a bit on the light side or do you have very pale skin? Bronze baby! This way you still create the illusion of a tanned skin.

And the last Do

Follow your own style. The above don'ts are of course tips :) Do you wear Smokey eyes, red lipstick every day or do you go for a look that not everyone would wear at your wedding? To do! Above all, you should feel good and beautiful yourself! It's your special day!
