How do I apply lip liner?

A lip liner is the way to get your lipstick nice and tight. A lip liner is usually in the form of a pencil. With a lip liner you outline the outside of your lips. You then apply the (liquid) lipstick and voilà, your lipstick is super tight! A lip liner also prevents your lipstick from bleeding.

Color

It is important that you choose the right lip liner color. It is often advisable to choose a color that is close to the color of your lipstick. Grab the lip liner just a shade darker, this will make your lips look a bit fuller. Another way to make your lips appear fuller is to overline them. Be careful not to do this too violently. This can look a bit weird.

Drawing direction

If you have found the right lip liner color, it is of course important that you apply it properly. There are several ways to do this:

You can draw from the center of your upper lip in your cupid's bow, towards the corner of your mouth, as shown below in the photo. But you can also draw the other way around, from the corner of your mouth to the center of your upper lip if you find this easier.

Then do the same for your lower lip. Start in the middle again and draw towards the corner of your mouth. Or move the liner from one corner of your mouth to the other if this is easier for you.

After you have outlined your lips, you can blend the lip liner a bit. You use a brush for this. Blend the lip liner to the inside of your lips. This way you ensure that your lip liner will blend well with your lipstick.

Then apply the (liquid) lipstick and you are ready to go!
